Frequently Asked
Questions

What insurance do you accept?
Long-term care, workers’ compensation
and private insurance. We also will verify
your insurance coverage.

What if insurance doesn’t
cover my care?
Our services are available to purchase
privately from two hours to 24 hours any
day of the week. Services may be
increased or decreased according to your
needs. You do not need a physician’s
order to call Competent Care in order to
purchase our services privately, but we
will use your doctor’s orders to create a
Plan of Treatment based on your specific
needs.

How much does it cost to pay
for services out of pocket?
We have competitive rates for all of our
services. Please call (714) 545-4818 or
toll free at (800) 755-4818 to speak with
Karen Vicente, Customer Service
Coordinator, for our rates.

How soon can you start
services?
Generally, we can begin services within 24
to 48 hours of referral. A Registered
Nurse will make an assessment visit and
complete your personalized plan of care.
We usually begin services on the same
day of referral when circumstances allow.

What is your service area?
We cover Orange County and
surrounding areas. Contact Karen to
request service for specific areas in the
Los Angeles, San Diego and Riverside
counties.

How is your staff trained and
screened?
We carefully screen our nurses prior to
hire with testing, skill level assessment,
reference and employment history
checks. Staff is oriented and offered in-
service opportunities regularly. All
professional staff holds current licensure.
The California Board of Registered
Nursing requires nurses to have
background checks from the FBI in
addition to the Department of Justice
(DOJ) prior to licensing. Nurses are
required to meet continuing education
unit requirements imposed by the State.

Are your employees bonded
and insured?
Our agency holds professional and general
liability policies on all staff.

What if I no longer need
services?
Services begin and end as needed. Hours
may increase or decrease at your request
or as circumstances warrant. We
appreciate advance notice when services
are coming to an end so staff can be
reassigned. When insurance covered care
ends, you may purchase services
privately.
